
Devangana is a visual communication designer and educator from India, with a focus on bookmaking, illustration, and narrative form. Her practice spans publishing, graphic design, and education, often blurring the boundaries between art, design, and storytelling.
She provides design expertise and collaborates with some of the world's leading publishing houses on design projects and is quietly assembling her dream library—one beloved book at a time.
She is also an award-winning illustrator and children's author of her critically-acclaimed picture book 'The Jungle Radio: Birdsongs of India’ (Penguin Random House India, 2019).
Devangana has worked as a Senior Designer and Art Director at Penguin Random House India, and mentored young minds as a faculty of Visual Communication Design at Srishti-Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Bangalore, India.
Her art and stories mostly use visual autoethnography, and find roots in community, conservation, education, childhood and mental health. For inspiration she relies on children's picture books, folk art, Urdu poetry, art-therapy, the ocean, and her two cats.
She currently nurturing her independent practice, and works as a design consultant.
